It’s still a good idea to have a meeting with the young man who wants to take your daughter on a date. It’s not old-fashioned at all; in fact, it’s extremely helpful to your daughter, but only if she wants that. Do, or will your daughters have this conviction? If they don’t, you won’t get the chance to meet with him anyway. In the age of rampant pornography addiction, it’s even more important! Isaac and Angie discuss the six questions every father should ask when he meets with the young man who wants to date his daughter. This will be helpful regardless of your parenting season, as so much of it depends also on how you raise them, which is also mentioned in this episode.
Main Points From This Episode:
- The goal isn’t to intimidate the young man; he already is, no matter how you are, so the goal should be to start building a relationship. It’s possible he could become the one she marries.
- Always meet in person if possible.
- Before you meet, take a look at their social media to get an idea of things
- You have to listen to the episode to get the six questions, but here are a few things to consider:
- If he is addicted or looking at pornography right now, would you let him take your daughter on a date if everything else lines up, including that he serves in his church and loves Jesus?
- So then why wouldn’t you ask him? But getting an honest answer depends on how you do the meeting.
- If he doesn’t have a view of dating in the same way you do, there will be big problems as well.
- Okay, that’s enough to get you to listen to the show?

Scriptures From This Episode:
– Matthew 6:24 – “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.“
– John 9:39-41 – “Jesus said, “For judgment I came into this world, that those who do not see may see, and those who see may become blind.” Some of the Pharisees near him heard these things, and said to him, “Are we also blind?” Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no guilt; but now that you say, ‘We see,’ your guilt remains.“
– John 9:18-23 – “The Jews did not believe that he had been blind and had received his sight, until they called the parents of the man who had received his sight and asked them, “Is this your son, who you say was born blind? How then does he now see?” His parents answered, “We know that this is our son and that he was born blind. But how he now sees we do not know, nor do we know who opened his eyes. Ask him; he is of age. He will speak for himself.” (His parents said these things because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had already agreed that if anyone should confess Jesus to be Christ, he was to be put out of the synagogue. Therefore his parents said, “He is of age; ask him.“
