How to raise confident Christian kids in an uncertain world
podcast with Isaac & Angie
Courageous Parenting is a weekly podcast for Christian parents who want to equip confident Christian kids in an uncertain world.
Have you thought about the idea that there could be limits on what you even think about attempting as a family due to not realizing the potential of your team at home? We believe it’s important to do things that require your family to help on purpose. In this episode, we give you practical ideas/projects to do based on the different age levels of your kids. Let’s keep doing things that require more than our own strengths so we have to rely on God and our family. Otherwise, we may decide to do less based on our own abilities and limit the desire within our kids to contribute.
There are several reasons most families lack a sense of productive teamwork within their families with a growing ability to do amazing things together. From the beginning, we have been cultivating a sense of teamwork in our family and share these important insights with you in this two-part series. It’s really cool to be able to get more done with more people helping, however, the bigger importance is how it better equips your kids for the uncertain world they will be launching into.
Isaac and Angie are sharing their “list” of things they have done or are planning to do regarding being prepared to care for their family and potentially others in uncertain times. Join them for this second episode in a 2-part series where they share their personal stories while also sharing the scriptural reasoning behind WHY they have felt prompted to be more intentional about being self-sufficient while also keeping a Biblical perspective on it all.
The Tolpins are tackling the relevant topic of “Preparing for Uncertain Times” from a Biblical perspective and will take you back to what the Word of God says and encourage you in your roles as parents and Christ-followers in THIS generation and time. There is a balance between being what people call “self-sufficient” and being wisely prepared and the difference is simply revealed in one’s approach to the topic. Providing for your family and preparing for uncertain times must be measured with recognizing WHO the provision truly comes from and how we should steward what He has given us. Join Isaac and Angie as they dig deep in this first part of a two-part series.

While it’s important to be relationship versus control-driven parents you don’t want to take it too far. You are the most important God-given authority in your kid’s lives. But it’s because of a strong relationship with your kids that you are able to hold them accountable, speak the truth they need to hear and lead them away from foolishness and towards righteousness.
While we want to be relationship driven parents, there are challenges when we lean too far in either of these directions actually. Are you more control or relationship driven in your parenting approach? How about your spouse? This two part series will give you good insights to reflect on your own parenting to see where you land with insights on what to do about it.
We all get discouraged about our parenting at times. This episode will encourage you in how to be the kind of leader that helps mold kids with great moral character. Are you a peacemaker? Most Christians probably believe they are; however, when you listen to this episode as we discuss this with special guest Steve Crane, you may be surprised what Jesus actually means in His “Sermon on the Mount.” Too often the wrong thinking about being a peacemaker has led to being passive about truth for the sake of peace. That’s not only wrong but harmful to the mission God has for us. And sometimes that mission actually causes conflict in a fallen world.
Are you a critical thinker? Are you sure? Are you doing what you need to make sure your kids are savvy critical thinkers in this uncertain world? Tune into this second part of the series to get the other four tips that the Tolpins share to help you in equipping your children with critical thinking skills and discernment.
We are seeing the next generation swept away to absurd philosophies that contradict biblical truth and it’s happening on purpose. So we need to be more on purpose than ever to counter this effort. It’s vital that you proactively equip your kids to be critical thinkers, and this doesn’t just happen in the normal flow of life unless you purpose to do so. Get practical tips that will help every parent no matter how old your kids are.
Your kids were born into these uncertain times on purpose! But it is your job to equip them differently than in times past. Get encouraged by this episode as the Tolpin s dive into this important topic.
As leaders of our families, we’ve got to be full of hope and vision in this new year. Your kids’ energy for their initiatives may be depending on it. We never want to fail to plan because of today’s uncertain environment. That’s a recipe for being a victim as well as depression. We must fuel our resiliency to be able to handle the changes and challenges ahead. Your family needs it from you right now! This episode will stir up hope in you for this year.
While disunity at large appears to be growing it’s important we navigate standing for truth well, while not losing our saltiness for the Gospel. There’s a balance between being bold and showing love. So how do we do this well? The Tolpin’s tackle this important topic at length in this important episode.
Here are your Biblical and modern examples of civil disobedience we promised from the previous episode and details on what to do if your church closes; including how to participate or even start a Home Church. As the world changes, we need to further equip ourselves to lead our families spiritually and this is an important part of that.
Too many Christians read Romans 13 and think they are supposed to obey their government no matter what they do. That isn’t the case, and perhaps part of the problem as personal and family freedoms gradually disappear. This is an important episode to discuss in your marriage so you can make good decisions in alignment.
It’s the Christmas season but if we aren’t intentional, all the wrong messages can get instilled in our kids and distract them from the true meaning. This episode will give you date night questions and encourage you to proactively create a Jesus focused Christmas with fun traditions.

In this second part of the series, the Tolpins share the next five challenges that must be offset by parents rising to the occasion and leading by example and in teaching. We discuss the negative mindset on career paths that could develop, persecution and the challenge of standing for truth sharing conservative opinions, repercussions of too much digital influence, how to offset a lack of belief in the US election process, and addressing the costs of a decrease in the value of freedom by people around them. The Tolpins are sharing their proactive thinking process so that you too can respond to today’s challenges so your kids don’t experience those future negative outcomes.
What are you doing or going to do when there’s a mask mandate, Church isn’t meeting, and you are struggling with finding good community for your family? Suppression of freedom is growing and it could have dramatic consequences for this generation of kids when they are adults. Yes, we give twenty reasons why we are doing so, but we also teach you how to help your kids become critical thinkers on their own so they are experienced in thinking more deeply about world events and political opinions. Critical thinking leads to clear thinking and clear thinking to a clear conscience. We all need to realize that voting is a privilege that our forefathers died for us to have. And while you may choose to forfeit your right and privilege to vote, your counterparts will not fail to exercise their right to do so. We believe God placed us in the prospective generation we are in for many reasons, one is to be a faithful citizen and do our duty in impacting the generations after us. Your vote might just do that!
We all want our kids to reject passivity and stand for Biblical truth when they launch into the world. But these things are becoming harder to do in our own strength, which is why it’s so important they see you making decisions that require God’s strength to help you. This episode will encourage this and more. Plus we make a life-changing announcement at the opening of the episode.
