Sometimes what’s best for your family is in a different direction than what people in your community are doing. For over twenty years the Tolpin’s have gone against the grain in numerous ways that they are contributing to the fruit they see today in their family of nine children. They discuss how to have the hard conversations and encouragement to do so. The reality of the pressures on parents to go along to get along, but the warning that we should always do what is likely to have the most fruitful outcomes in raising our children even if there’s relational cost with others. But also encouragement that there doesn’t have to be a relational cost and to move forward in love without fear as you make your intentional parenting decisions.

Main Points From This Episode:

Here are some of the main points from this episode:

  • It’s vital to remember your mission for parenting your children.
  • Ask yourself “Does this decision help or hurt the mission?”
    • After you’ve lived out that decision for a while, test whether the fruit from that decision is still proving to support your mission.
    • If it’s not, then shift gears towards what’s more fruitful!
  • Seek God’s will, not yours
    • What does His word say?
    • Pray and ask Him for wisdom
  • When you feel a strong conviction to make a change, act on it!
    • Conviction is The Holy Spirit prompting you
  • You have to be willing for your relationships to change sometimes in order to make the best decisions for your family.
