Is it possible to pursue marriage in a biblical way today? ABSOLUTELY and we are overjoyed by Megan and Shawn honoring their parents and the Lord as they approach their wedding day. I WISH our older kids had more examples of having walked this season out– young adulthood towards marriage! ISaac had read a lot and always felt like we agreed with some aspects of the conservative courtship side of things, but definitely not all because in many cases it seemed very controlling and our thought has always been that if they are mature enough to get married they should be mature enough to have integrity and be trusted. But on the other hand, for very obvious reasons we don’t agree with the secular worldy views on dating or engagement either!
Our world is fallen and all people struggle with selfishness!
BUT, our approach and what we have taught and discussed with our children (because once they are adults it needs to be their own personal conviction too, not just parents) has always been kind of in the middle road if you will. Of course, always seeking Christ to be biblical is really important and that has been our desire for our children as they are making the most important decision of their life next to following Christ– who they marry!
